Sample Image Judy McGregor, Henry County School System School Improvement Consultant, speaks to 90  K-12 educators about pacing guide research and application/implications of successful practices, Monday morning in the HCHS Testing Center. The educators will be working in grade levels and content areas to develop and update pacing guides for the new state standards. These 90 teachers will be trainers for their respective schools, developing professional learning communities within their school and the district. The teams will meet for work sessions on June 21-22 as part of the Race to the Top grant to assure our school system is aligning our curriculum, instruction, and assessment with the new standards. As Director of Schools Sam Miles states: Know what to teach, how to teach it, and how to assess it. Sample Image Grove School mathematics teacher, Faye Hooper, looks at her new standards' Course Level Expectations (CLE), Checks for Understanding(CFU), and State Performance Indicators (SPI) for the Algebra I pacing guide. No longer do teachers go through textbooks from chapter to chapter, but align the textbook and other resources to their pacing guides.

Sample Image Educators from our middle schools work together to develop pacing guides in order to create consistency and continuity in curriculum. Aligning the curriculum is a goal for our district. In this way, any student transferring from one school to another in our district will have a smooth transition.
