Santa comes early to Puryear
Written by Admini Strator
Tuesday, 22 December 2009

Sample Image Merry Christmas to the Puryear Fire Department from Harrelson 2nd grade students! A check for $250.00 was found on the fire house Christmas tree by firemen Dennis Robertson, Thomas Frommel, Justin Hughes, and John Walters. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their sweet pooch delivered the present early for the firemen to use as they needed over the holiday season. The money was raised during the Harrelson play and originally was going to be used for smoke detector batteries until it was discovered the detectors came with working batteries. The firemen stated they would use the money for bottled water and other items needed for the fire station and/or victims of fire-related incidents. The presentation of the check was the final celebration activity in a grade-level service-learning project.
