Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)

The Henry County School System has qualified for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) which will permit the district to provide meal services to ALL students at NO CHARGE, regardless of economic status beginning January 4, 2024.

CEP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1.      WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MY STUDENT(S) AND FAMILY?

All students will receive breakfast and lunch for free, regardless of your economic status.  No application necessary. 

2.      WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY ELIGIBILITY PROVISION (CEP)? 

CEP is an alternative reimbursement option through the USDA for eligible high poverty school districts.  Henry County School System has qualified based on the number of the student population that has been directly certified through federal benefits programs (e.g. SNAP, TANF, FDPIR, Medicaid, homeless, migrant, runaway and foster). 

3.      MY STUDENT HAS A BALANCE OWED TO THE DISTRICT AS OF 12/15/23, DO I STILL NEED TO PAY?

Yes, balances owed from August 1, 2023 through December 15, 2023 will still need to be paid.  To make arrangements to pay these balances, please continue to send payments to your child’s school cafeteria, online at www.schoolcafe.com or contact the School Nutrition office at 731-642-9733.

4.      WILL YOU STILL CHARGE FOR ICE CREAM AND OTHER A LA CARTE/SNACK ITEMS?

5.      MY STUDENT LIKES TO EAT EXTRA FRENCH FRIES AND OTHER ITEMS, IS THIS STILL ALLOWED?

6.      MY STUDENT HAS A CREDIT ON THEIR ACCOUNT, CAN I REQUEST A REFUND?

Yes, you can request a refund using the SchoolCafe app or by contacting the School Nutrition office at 731-642-9733 or by email at sherards@henryk12.net.
