Commitment to Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)

In alignment with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Henry County School System’s Special Populations Department is committed to providing the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) for all students.

This commitment ensures that every student has access to the full range of school experiences — classrooms, programs, and activities — alongside their non-disabled peers to the greatest extent appropriate. Each student’s educational placement and services are determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team, based on individual needs. A continuum of services is available to ensure that students receive the appropriate level of support in either general education or special education settings.

Our focus remains on ensuring that every student receives the support and opportunities necessary to achieve academic and personal success.

We Believe...

  • All individuals are important, valued, and respected.

  • All individuals have unique needs, strengths, and abilities.

  • All individuals can learn, grow, and succeed.

  • Each situation and learner is unique and requires thoughtful consideration.

  • All individuals deserve a safe, supportive, and inclusive educational environment.

  • All individuals should have equitable access to all educational services and opportunities.

  • The learning experience of every student is strengthened through the involvement of the entire community.

  • Ongoing training and professional growth are essential to increase knowledge and skills for all stakeholders.

  • All individuals reach their fullest potential when educators, parents, students, and the community work together to create a seamless and supportive learning environment.
