Paris, TN – The 41st Annual Henry County Special Olympics had great weather as almost 100 student athletes participated in track and field events at the Henry County High School Patriot Stadium. Students from Henry County School System and Paris Special School District participated in the games.
The local games are just the first part of several games that are available to these student athletes. Area games are held in Martin, TN and then State Games are held May 16-18, 2025, at the
Lipscomb University & Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville. This year's theme,
Celebrating Every Champion is a reminder of the purpose of the Special Olympics, to celebrate inclusion and health for all students, regardless of ability or disability.
Local game coordinator, Jammie Adkisson, was appreciative of the volunteers who helped with this year’s event, including the Paris-Lakeway Kiwanis Club, the Paris Pickleball Club, the Best Buddies and peer tutors, and other high school students. She also was thankful for the cheering crowd who came to watch their athletes compete. Along with family and friends, there were HCHS and Rhea students and staff who were able to come for short periods of time to show their support.
