Paris, TN – Henry County and Dickson County School Systems are excited to announce the renewal of a popular tradition, “The Battle of the Barrel.” The winner of Friday night’s game gets to take the barrel back to their school and display it for students and fans.

According to Athletic Director, Steve Summers, it was originally called “The Battle of the Milk Barrel.” Painted on the barrel are the scores of every contest between the two teams, 38 in total. The teams played each other in 1977 and the last meeting was 2016. “Henry County won the first two games and also won the last eight contests. We have a slight lead in victories, 21 to Dickson County’s 17.”

Henry County High School invites the community and especially alumni who remember the Battle of the Barrel to come and cheer on the Patriots this Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Patriot Stadium. Fan support will go a long way in keeping the barrel in Henry County!
