Lakewood Kids Corner is off to a great year and full of learning! From completing math problems with hands-on activities as well as the computer-based Happy Numbers program to using their cognitive abilities to piece puzzles together, students at Lakewood's Kids Corner are problem solvers!
The Henry County School System is a recipient of the state awarded LEAPs Grant, which helps fund our three Kids Corner programs. This grant allows our school system to offer Kids Corner at Harrelson, Henry, and Lakewood at no cost to parents.
As part of the grant requirements, Lakewood Kids Corner Directors Christy Hendricks and Kristi Williams recently completed orientation with parents of Kids Corner attendees (pictured).

Henry School helped celebrate Dot Day on Tuesday, September 15th. The theme was "Make your Mark."
The school had a Kindergarten through 3rd grade program after school. The children performed songs they had practiced in music class and the Henry School Book Fair was open for students to attend with their families.

International Dot Day is a global annual celebration held on September 15th that inspires people of all ages to be brave, express creativity, and "make your mark."

Career Exploration is an elective class for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at Harrelson, Henry, and Lakewood Schools. Students participate in personality and learning style inventories, learn about the programs of study at HCHS, learn about growing careers in our region and across the nation, and participate in hands-on activities that connect to job tasks and skill sets.

Celebrate Freedom Week | Day 5: Rights, Freedoms, and Responsibilities
As we conclude Celebrate Freedom Week, we are focusing on the fundamental rights and freedoms enjoyed by American citizens.
The Declaration of Independence established liberty, equality, natural rights, and consent of the governed as foundational American principles. The Constitution created a limited government designed to protect those principles, and the Bill of Rights protects individual freedoms such as freedom of speech, religion, the press, and peaceful assembly.
Citizenship also comes with responsibilities. Responsible citizens follow laws, respect the rights of others, stay informed, participate in their communities, and help preserve our nation’s freedoms.

Celebrate Freedom Week | Day 4: Constitution Day and Symbols of Freedom
Happy Constitution Day! The U.S. Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787, establishing the framework for our system of government.
Today, we are celebrating by wearing red, white, and blue. These colors appear on the American flag, one of our most important national symbols. Other symbols—including the Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, and bald eagle—also represent our nation’s freedom, strength, and independence.
Our third-grade students are marking Constitution Day by participating in the Nationwide Constitution Day Mock Trial. This experience will give them a firsthand look at the judicial branch and the important role courts play in our constitutional system of government.
September is known as College Application Month in the state of Tennessee. During this month, many colleges waive application fees, which makes it the perfect time to apply! Take a look!
